An Invitation
to participate in
The MYTHOS
2008
Ron Lampi
An Invitation to participate in The MYTHOS should itself be considered an evolving document. As I receive responses, as others begin to join me, as comments and critiques are made, I will make changes to this document to reflect them. The MYTHOS at some point will undoubtedly engender its own website.
This is updated edition 2.
Relevant works of mine to study regarding The MYTHOS are:
Advent (over 300-page collection of poems that are preparation for The MYTHOS, a number of which are on my website)
The MYTHOS (in its beginning stages, but I will make it available to those interested in participating)
Time has come for The MYTHOS to enter the world. This is an invitation to join me, an invitation to participate in what promises to be a vast, new endeavor, a project super-creative in its intention, which is to be the manifestation of a Vision on a scale such as the world has never before seen. But for the hint of an overview in the following paragraphs, I will not attempt to fully explain The MYTHOS here. It requires an involved philosophical explication. There are other writing opportunities for that. The unfolding MYTHOS itself would also come to explain itself in its unfolding over time.
Simply put for my purpose here, I will share this: Many years ago I received a Vision of Psyche, which was a Vision of what I came to interpret as the Advent of new Divinity into the world. Having long meditated upon it, I further came to the realization that this Vision of Psyche was the Living Image of the Higher Self, which was then our own Divine Selfhood. Spirit is coming-to-us anew, and is coming-to-us, I claim, as Psyche, Spirit of soul. Psyche, in other words, is Spirit coming-to-us in the guise of soul divinized. The new Word for the Aquarian New Age is Mythos, as so many of us have now liberated ourselves in this Postmodern era from our previous domination by Logos. Mythos is the original ancient Greek Word of Divinity, and that Divinity today coming-to-us, again, is Psyche. Psyche is The MYTHOS, the greatest Story that is now to be told on Earth. It is time to begin to tell this Story, to bring The MYTHOS into the world. This Story The MYTHOS is to eventually be the transformation of all that has been. Our world today is calling out for transformation.
One can begin to understand The MYTHOS as the new global archetype of humanity that is about to break into and manifest as a universal culture; we do see evidence of it everywhere today downloading into untold thousands of individuals worldwide as the new dispensation of Spirit. There is no doubt that we find many today beginning to embody it. The MYTHOS first began in the work of this poet as the Story of how I, an individual, discovered the Higher Self, my own Divine Selfhood; it is the Story of the Path I’ve taken in my life to reveal and embody the Higher Self. It is an archetypal Story, potentially anyone’s Story. Untold thousands today are on their own, but similar Paths. This Story—my Story—, then, is interconnected with the lives of thousands and potentially millions of others who are themselves discovering this new divine archetype of humanity—The MYTHOS is this Story unfolding in ever widening interconnections of this dawning global awareness. But more than another scholarly overview, more than another example of cultural reportage, The MYTHOS promises to be the actual, tangible, creative working-together of thousands of individuals who share this awareness, individuals who are the cutting-edge of future humanity, individuals who are already beginning to manifest the new, universal culture. To speak The MYTHOS is to actualize The MYTHOS. The real Story is not simply the idea of the Story but is in the actual telling of it, the actual working-of-it-out.
Many are being called to help bring The MYTHOS into the world. Hundreds and thousands will be invited to participate in the telling of this Story. This is not meant to be the individual affair of the solitary creative individual in an isolating Postmodern context. The solitary creative individual is not capable of bringing all the ramifications of such a vast project into manifestation. The solitary creative individual cannot do the work required today alone. The MYTHOS must be a collective effort; many voices must come forward to help tell this Story.
The MYTHOS, first of all, is a document of writing. I have started The MYTHOS, as my Vision has guided its beginning. But others are invited to participate in its writing. I expect others to carry on the Story going far into the future.
It might be questioned by what authority do I claim the right to begin The MYTHOS? Concomitantly, I am also aware that there might be a certain level of resentment against anyone who would claim to have been so “privileged.” I am announcing The MYTHOS and I begin The MYTHOS as Psyche, Higher Self of our Divinity, has spoken through me. I have waited for years for someone else to come forward to announce The MYTHOS: And there has indeed been much beating-around-the-bush today about myth and mythmaking, but the definitive Vision, the definitive Advent, regarding new mythos I have not heard spelled out. My own waiting is over. The poet’s role is to name what is essential in our dwelling on Earth. I am that poet:
The MYTHOS begins somewhere
and must begin with someone
Though The MYTHOS might begin with an individual who gives birth to it, it requires the collective effort of many—of hundreds, of thousands, and eventually hundreds of thousands—to bring it fully into the world.
I am not especially interested in arguing with those who would deny that such a Mythos is possible, whether a culturally transformative project as a conscious collective movement is possible, or about who could coordinate, or claim the right to coordinate, such a movement. I am passionately engaged in actually doing the thing called for—bringing Mythos into the world. Our society has had such a limited view on creativity for far too long. All assume creativity as an expression of individual subjectivity, but creativity involving Spirit in its collective sense is hardly even allowed. The Traditions—the great religions of the world, the age-old spiritual and occult traditions—must be transformed. Creativity on a massive, conscious, collective level has rarely been attempted. The highpoint years of the 20th Century Sixties and the Harmonic Convergence of 1987 are a couple previous examples that we might refer to that exhibited a comparable exhilarating collective effort.
One might suggest that such a project as I am announcing it is grandiose in the extreme. It is grandiose, however, in a completely conscious way. If one were to open one’s eyes to all the grand changes happening before us in the world today, the enormous crises we face, one just might consider that such grandiosity might in fact be called for in turn. Again, one might be in denial of the potential of creativity, and that creativity is our divine birthright, which is what The MYTHOS is all about. That creativity is a divine birthright has implications hardly even considered before.
Consider before our eyes what is unfolding: peak oil, energy crisis, global warming, extreme weather, bulging global populations, coming food shortages, famine, economic recession, oceans dying, degradation of biodiversity, massive species extinction, Secret Government conspiracies, Secret Controllers of the planet, 9/11 the real truth, weapons of mass destruction, rumors of coming world war, coming pandemics, mass media manipulated populations, the amazing still young Internet, new technologies of robotics, genetic engineering, nanotech, biochips, intrusive new surveillance systems, RFID, Virtual Reality, psychotronics, chemtrails changing our skies, the first cyborgs emerging among us, transhumanism, the coming Singularity and projected Post-human era, UFO encounters, inevitable ET disclosure and contact, alien hybrids, Other Intelligence a future given, crop circles in our face, Postmodern fragmentation, disorientation, alienation, nihilism... All this is happening before our eyes, and one would suggest that I am fatuously promoting a grandiose art project? The creative response to our world today must be of biblical proportions. Now if one might also suggest that many of these things listed are only hypothetical, only theory, myth, or hype, there is no scientific evidence for them, no basis in fact, no announcement by Authority to make it official, or any of the other rationalizations often given to sidestep various issues, then one does not understand mythos, and one does not understand the new Word as Mythos—The MYTHOS.
The writing of The MYTHOS requires the talents and knowledge and spiritual guidance and wisdom of multitudes of individuals. I have written dozens of other works as a contemporary, Postmodern-situated, solitary, creative individual. There is no end to the potential works to be written by an individual. But The MYTHOS is different. By its very nature, The MYTHOS is different. Mythos, by its very nature, is the collective expression of a people, and that must mean today global humanity.
How can I participate? To start with, I am inviting others to participate in the writing of The MYTHOS. To say that I am simply looking for submissions of writing would not exactly be accurate. I am not interested in producing yet another anthology of poetry, stories, essays, or other writing; there are plenty of those on the market already. Your submissions should come after a serious meditation on what The MYTHOS is about. Your submissions are to be woven into The MYTHOS. Poems, poetic threads relevant to the unfolding Mythos, narratives, stories, vignettes, firsthand experiences, visions, parables, songs, statements, aphorisms, philosophical explorations, critique, there is no restriction on the form through which The MYTHOS reveals itself. I want your names woven into The MYTHOS, and the names of all who you believe to be important in the telling of The MYTHOS. I am already weaving many names into The MYTHOS, which does include a number of you who I am contacting.
The MYTHOS can also manifest as a performance, and will undoubtedly evolve as performance in many ways. As a performance, The MYTHOS began as The Vision of Psyche. On October 24, 2006, in Santa Cruz, California, Ral performed The Vision of Psyche for the first time publicly. This performance, accompanied by the music and angelic tones of the duo Spirit Whisperers, was an experience for but a few. This performance demands to be given again and again. It would require a whole troupe of individuals in order to bring it to its full splendor. The MYTHOS requires the participation of other performers, singers, musicians, visual artists, videographers, documentation artists, writers, scholars, webmasters, fundraisers, organizational leaders, networking angels, and lightworkers in all capacities. The MYTHOS is also meant to someday be taken on the road. I envision a traveling troupe of emissaries of The MYTHOS, sharing performance, poetry, music, song, education—a sharing with others of the New Age Vision.
Those who begin to grasp what The MYTHOS is about will realize that it has implications for all areas of life. It is not meant to be simply some art project promoted by airy-fairy individuals, but eventually will find application in practice and in so many down-to-Earth ways: in social and group dynamics, in new approaches to therapy, in “personal growth,” in organizations and organization building, in new or old businesses that are challenged to think “outside the box,” in regional self-awareness and ecological issues (what I call Mythos of place), in new forms of collective communication, including relating to the Internet, and in our confrontation with new technologies, especially with the growing danger posed by Technos.
Questions regarding how The MYTHOS is to unfold over time, its structure, organization, what can be expected of it, how hundreds and thousands of individuals might eventually involve themselves, obviously cannot be answered here. Issues of intellectual property rights will naturally come up, and how creative autonomy is challenged by a shared endeavor. All this is anticipated. The thing is, once The MYTHOS, the new Word of Divinity, enters the world, it cannot be owned by anyone—the new Word lives through us all. To demand to know precisely how The MYTHOS will look in the future is not to understand Mythos. Mythos is not under our control. The MYTHOS is the Advent of Psyche and how Psyche is destined to come into our world.
Will you make money by participating in The MYTHOS? I am sorry, but this is not a business plan on how you can simply make money by your participation. And let me be honest, I am not in a position to pay you, the potentially hundreds and thousands of you, for your participation. It will be up to individuals involved enlisting their own creative ideas to think of ways of manifesting money through their involvement in The MYTHOS. There is no doubt that money can and will manifest. But think about it: I cannot do everything for you. If you have read this far, you realize that this indeed is a collective effort. It is apparent that to fulfill so many of the possibilities of The MYTHOS would require investors in various capacities. Investing is clearly one way of participating.
If your submission to The MYTHOS project—the written part of it—is not used at this time, do not take it as a rejection of your work per se, but as a decision on my part—the part that I currently play in this—that your work cannot yet be woven into The MYTHOS. It might be that your work is inappropriate for the intent of The MYTHOS. You may not yet understand that this project is not meant to be Postmodern, which is characterized by fragmentation, discontinuity, the revelry of incoherence, and the denial of Spirit, but is meant to be a transition out of the Postmodern. You may not yet understand what mythos is and the evolutionary intent of The MYTHOS. Take note! This is truly not an easy notion to grasp, but requires some time to sink in.
The MYTHOS is meant to be a multi-generational project, continuing far into the future. As The MYTHOS of the New Age Vision, it would make sense that it would continue to unfold far into the new Aquarian Age. As a visionary poet, I would expect that what I am proposing would be projected on such a grand scale. The Postmodern sensibility, known for its notoriously short memory span, has difficulty thinking beyond current events and personal affairs, let alone being able to project an intention far into the future.
If there is interest on your part in possible involvement, or simply interest in what this might really amount to, you should meditate upon the implications of what is being proposed here. It has not been my intent to spell out all of these possible implications for you here. I am reasonably aware of what they are. Time will undoubtedly reveal them. And they are immense.
Please do correspond. Perhaps you may wish to join on.
